Employers – Look After Your Staff Employers are able to select a preferred KiwiSaver Provider, which their employees will be allocated to if they do not choose a Provider of their own. Having a preferred Provider in place illustrates a commitment to the long-term welfare of your employees and can help make it easier for employees to make a decision about which Provider to choose. When you nominate a preferred Provider for your employees, this means that those employees who don't choose their own KiwiSaver scheme are allocated to your preferred Provider’s scheme instead of to a default scheme allocated by the IRD. Providing general savings or KiwiSaver information or nominating a preferred Provider does not constitute giving financial advice, and employers who select a preferred Provider for their employees are not guaranteeing the Scheme in any way.
