We are very pleased to announce that Forsyth Barr has chosen to support Auckland City Mission in the development of a new, world-class facility – HomeGround.
Auckland City Mission is an outstanding organisation working to solve problems of importance to all New Zealanders. Since 1920, it has been focused on helping people in desperate need, not just those battling addictions, but also rough sleepers, isolated elderly, people living in cars, people living with mental health issues, or those struggling to feed their families over a period of unexpected crisis.
The HomeGround facility recognises that to tackle the multiple causes of desperate need, the necessary infrastructure and services that form the solution need to be co-located. This ensures that those in need have access to all the help they require in one place, delivered in a co-ordinated way. HomeGround will be purpose-built, and will enable the Mission to expand its focus beyond just helping those who find themselves in immediate need, but, importantly, working to tackle the causes of that need – mental health issues, addiction, poverty and homelessness.
An impressive $72.2m in funding has already been raised for the HomeGround initiative, with the government recently contributing $16.7m. However a further $17.8m is required to make it a reality.
For our inaugural Forsyth Barr Charity Brokerage Day, we are supporting the Auckland City Mission’s HomeGround development. The Charity Brokerage Day involves Forsyth Barr donating all brokerage from institutional transactions undertaken with us on Thursday October 25, and in addition we will be making a donation on behalf of our broader business. Forsyth Barr staff are also participating in this initiative with personal donations. We will announce the total amount donated once we have tallied up the amounts after the day.
We are delighted to able to support the work of the Auckland City Mission through this project, and have been delighted by the response we have received, including from institutional clients, key business leaders and the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, as we have shared our plans for this Charity Brokerage Day initiative with them.
If you too would like to support the Auckland City Mission’s work, you can donate to the HomeGround development here. Donations are tax deductible.
We believe the day will be a great success and thank you for your support.
