The Summer KiwiSaver scheme is pleased to sponsor the WriteMark 2018 Plain English Awards, at which Martin Hawes will be a guest speaker.

Martin Hawes, Authorised Financial Adviser and Chair of the Summer Investment committee noted, “I have spent the past 30 years educating people about investments and my goal has always been to make investing accessible to all — and clear communication is a key part of this”.

“Presenting information that is accessible and easily understood is the key to any good partnership…financial services is no different, and making information easier to understand increases confidence for all”.

The Awards are organised by the WriteMark Plain English Awards Trust. Independent panels of plain English experts and advocates judge the entries and decide on the finalists and winners in each category.

The Awards aim to:

  • improve government and business documents so that all New Zealanders can understand them
  • raise public awareness of the need for, and benefits of, plain English
  • create a public preference for organisations that choose to communicate in plain English.

Writing in clear, plain English has a big impact. At Summer we want to help New Zealanders on their investing journey by improving their understanding of investment markets generally, and our partnership with the 2018 Plain English Awards is a reflection of that goal.
