About Neil

Neil has over 35 years' experience in various roles in New Zealand capital markets. He joined Forsyth Barr as Research Director before being appointed Managing Director in 2001. He has been Managing Director of Forsyth Barr since 2001 during which time the firm has grown substantially into a leading wealth management, sharebroking and investment banking firm with over 500 staff across 25 offices in NZ and over $30bn of funds under management and advice.

Neil is the former Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington and has served as a Director of NZX and Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CAANZ), and as Chair of the NZ Regulatory Board of CAANZ. He is a Director of Wellington Free Ambulance and New Zealand Initiative. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a member of the Governance Institute NZ, and a Fellow of the Institute of Finance Professionals NZ (INFINZ), having chaired its predecessor the NZ Society of Investment Analysts. Neil was an inaugural recipient of a Sir Peter Blake Trust Leadership Award in 2005.
