Forsyth Barr has appointed Chris Connors as Head of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), based in Auckland.
Mr Connors has over 15 years’ experience working in capital markets in Sydney, London and New Zealand. For the past 6 years, he worked for Canadian investment bank Canaccord Genuity in the UK. His most recent role was Managing Director of its investment banking division, focussing on ECM.
Chris has replaced Blair Sutherland, who after 20 years at Forsyth Barr is retiring from the role.
Forsyth Barr Head of Investment Banking, Guy Williams, said the company was sad to say farewell to Blair but excited to have someone of Chris’ calibre and experience joining the team.
“Blair has been a senior member of our team for many years and has helped position Forsyth Barr as a market leader in equity capital markets. Recently, he has raised equity for a range of clients including Z Energy, Kathmandu, Comvita, Tilt Renewables, Arvida, PFI and ikeGPS. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours and look forward to an ongoing close association with him.
We are fortunate to have Chris join us at this extremely active time in the capital markets. This year we have helped 10 clients raise $1.4 billion of equity capital and we expect 2021 to be just as busy. Chris will have an important role within the Investment Banking team and we look forward to supporting him and our clients on their equity funding requirements.” Guy said.
While in London, Chris was involved in more than 40 equity or M&A transactions, raising, or advising on, over £6 billion for corporate clients. Born in Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island, he attended Canterbury University before joining PriceWaterhouseCoopers in New Zealand. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
