George Mear, CFA

About George

George Mear joined Forsyth Barr in 2013 and became an Investment Adviser in 2026. Prior to this, George was a Senior Analyst within the firm’s Institutional Wealth Management team, where he worked with wholesale and high-net-worth clients on investment strategy, governance, strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction. Earlier in his career, George covered international and Australian equities within the Wealth Research team, developing a strong grounding in company analysis, financial markets and investment selection. 

George is registered as a financial adviser, accredited as an NZX Adviser and is a CFA charterholder. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration, majoring in Finance and Economics, and a Master of Professional Accounting from Victoria University of Wellington.

George lives in Christchurch with his wife and two daughters. Outside work, he enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, travelling and good food.
