Hawke's Bay Wine Auction celebrates $5 million raised for Cranford Hospice

/
Forsyth Barr is delighted to have again been a Platinum Sponsor of the annual Auction fundraising for Cranford Hospice

This year's Auction, held on Saturday 13 September, has raised $370,000 meaning that a milestone cumulative total of over $5 million has been gifted to support the work of Cranford Hospice, since the Auction's inception in 1991.

This is an amazing result and testament to the generosity of the Hawke’s Bay community and to the hard work of the team of trustees including Kate Radburnd and Tony Bish, who were acknowledged for their incredible 30 years of service as Trustees of the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction.

Cranford Hospice is Hawke’s Bay’s leading palliative care provider and plays a vital role for many local families during the most difficult of times. While it does receive funding from the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board, it faces an annual shortfall that can only be met by donations from the community and through events like the Wine Auction.

Sam Kershaw, General Manager of the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction said “it is through the generous support of our family of sponsors that we are able to run a break-even budget, meaning every cent raised at the auction is donated to Cranford Hospice.
We are thrilled to have hit a new record in fundraising, and to have raised so much money to support Cranford Hospice.”

Andrew Lesperance, Chief Executive of Cranford Hospice, said the funds raised will make a tangible difference to families across the region. “We are humbled by the incredible generosity shown at this year’s wine auction. Every cent raised helps us provide compassionate, specialist palliative care to patients and their whānau. This support ensures we can continue to be there for people when they need us most, and we are deeply grateful to the winemakers, sponsors, and bidders who made this record-breaking day possible.”

At Forsyth Barr, we’re very proud to be part of the Hawke’s Bay community that comes together to support events and organisations like this.
