Held at The Verdict Cafe, our Pink Ribbon Morning Tea offered a meaningful opportunity to connect as a community and raise $1,388 in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s vital work in research, education, and patient care.

Inspiring the next generation of financial advisers
Last week, Investment Adviser, Sanet Drury and Adviser Assistant, Janelle Beamish attended the Career Bites event at Westlake Girls High School. Sanet delivered an inspiring talk about “A Career as a Financial Adviser,” where she shared her insights and experiences in the industry.
She spoke passionately about the current shortage of female financial advisers and why this career path can be especially rewarding for young women. From helping clients achieve their financial goals to enjoying the flexibility and variety the role offers, it’s a profession that truly makes a difference.
The students were engaged, curious, and eager to learn. Teachers expressed their appreciation and showed interest in organising a student shadowing opportunity.

Guests enjoyed a stunning fashion show featuring the latest international and local designs, alongside valuable financial insights from Forsyth Barr’s Monique Swanepoel and Jeanette Schimanski. They shared perspectives on women's financial journeys, the challenges they face, and how Forsyth Barr is making financial advice more accessible.
The event aligned with this year’s #AccelerateAction theme by inspiring women to prioritise their well-being - from health through to financial independence.

Forsyth Barr was proud to sponsor the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce New Zealand International Women's Day Lunch on Friday, 7th March.
This members-only lunch is part of their Women's Business Networking series held quarterly and designed to connect women in leading roles.
During the event, guests heard from the CEO of Waipā District Council, Stephanie O'Sullivan, who shared her experiences, as well as her vision for Waipā. Louise Upston, Minister for Social Development, was in attendance along with a great mix of businesswomen.
Forsyth Barr Cambridge Manager and Investment Adviser, Michelle Rolley also spoke about how Forsyth Barr can assist women in their investment journey. Her open-ended question of "Why do women make better investors than men?" fielded some excellent answers.

Forsyth Barr's Tauranga team celebrated International Women’s Day with an evening at BLAKCHAOS' design room in Mount Maunganui. The evening brought together local professionals to hear engaging presentations, experience a styling showcase, and to take part in informal networking.
The speakers for the evening were the visionary founders behind Blak Clothing and Chaos & Harmony Shoes, Teresa Hodges and Beks Anderson. Teresa and Beks each recounted their remarkable journeys and real-world experience in building their successful brands.
Jeannine Tolley and Stacey Russell from Forsyth Barr, talked about improving financial literacy and how women can empower themselves by understanding the importance of investing for the future. They also shared insights into how women can make the most of their investments.

Our Forsyth Barr Hamilton office held their third event in our Inspire Me Series on Tuesday 13 August. It was a great opportunity to network with other professional women in the Waikato.
Nicola Turner from Mainstream Green provided inspiration towards more mindful consumption and shared time-saving hacks to simplify and enhance overall well-being by living a bit lighter on the planet.
Forsyth Barr's Head of ESG, Katie Beith, discussed how environment, social and governance principles can be incorporated into an investment portfolio, without impacting overall returns.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, $2,600 has been donated to Clothe our kids - Waikato. The charity’s mission is to supply quality clothing packs to children in need across the Waikato.

Enhance your financial position and elevate your overall wellbeing
On Tuesday, 14 May Forsyth Barr Hamilton held a networking and fundraising event titled "Motivate Me".
It was a great opportunity to get together with a wonderful group of businesswomen and hear from Zoe Wallis, Investment Strategist of Forsyth Barr, and Rachel Matheson from Sparkhouse.
Zoe discussed building women’s wealth, finishing with an introduction to Forsyth Barr’s new guided investment app, Tempo NZ. Rachel spoke about overcoming our fears and limiting beliefs to achieve more rewarding outcomes.
We would also like to acknowledge the children from Te Rauhii who performed violin.
The event raised a total of $3,000 for Te Rauhii, whose mission is to empower and enrich the lives of young people in our local community with accessible music education.

Celebrating International Women's Day
Inspiring conversation and informal networking
International Women's Day (IWD), celebrated each year, is a time when we can acknowledge the achievements of women and inspire others on their individual journeys. This day not only commemorates the progress made in advancing women's empowerment but also highlights the ongoing efforts to address challenges and promote a more inclusive and equitable society. The theme for IWD 2024 is #InspireInclusion. Inclusion creates a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.
In celebration of IWD, attendees joined a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring what inclusion looks like across ESG, the arts, and sport in Aotearoa. A panel of speakers shared their perspectives on how we can continue to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.
The event was held in Auckland and live-streamed across Forsyth Barr’s national branch network.

Fun and fashionable women’s networking and fundraising event
On Tuesday 20 February we held the first event in our 'Forsyth Barr Inspire Me' series.
This event, held for local Hamilton businesswomen, was titled 'Style Me' and featured stylist Caitlin Taylor of Chasing Cait and fashion designer Stacey McIntosh who shared the latest Harrïe and Sam clothing designs. We would also like to acknowledge our musician on the day, Sean Lurman, who created an upbeat atmosphere.
The "Style Me" event raised a total of $3,150 for The Cake Detective, whose mission is to ensure that every child is celebrated on their birthday, regardless of their circumstances.
